2x6 Tongue and Groove Decking
Our 2x6 T&G Decking is available in Douglas fir or Western SPF, and is only taken from premium select J-Grade lumber. The material is kiln-dried and precision milled with a reversible V-Joint on one side and a flush back on the other. For quick turnaround times, we have a large in stock inventory and offer delivery throughout Southern Ontario.
2x6 T&G Decking is commonly used for things like timber frame pavilions, loft flooring, structural floors and ceilings, and stacked 2x6 panel walls.

Western SPF or Douglas Fir?
Both Western SPF and Douglas fir are going to be comparable in strength. Douglas fir is going to have a more vibrant grain pattern however, the biggest difference is in the raw colour of the material itself.
Douglas Fir has a reddy brown natural colour, with the early wood having quite a bit of pink/salmon undertones.
Western SPF (Spruce Pine Fir) contains primarily:
Engelmann Spruce
Lodgepole Pine
Alpine Fir
Each of the above species is very pale in colour, with a much more uniform appearance.
In general, both products will take stains very well. However, if a specific colour is required, the more neutral undertone of the SPF may be preferred.
What is 2x6 Tongue and Groove Decking?
2x6 tongue and groove decking is a heavy-duty structural T&G board commonly used for structural ceilings, loft floors, and roof decks. Each board measures 1 3/8" thick with a 5" finished face. This interlocking profile provides a tight fit, helping create a seamless, solid surface that reduces movement and prevents gaps.
